Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data SafarSarthi (operated by VMG Infoservice, Meerut, India) collects, why, and the choices you have. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. What we collect

• Account details when you sign up: name, e-mail address, and mobile number (optional). Your password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form.
• Places you add: the place name, type, location and notes. Your name is shown to our team, not to the public.
• Searches: the From and To places of a route search are used to calculate the route. If you are logged in, each trip you search (From, To, vehicle, distance, toll total) is saved under your account in My account → My trips so you can open it again or e-mail it to yourself. You can delete one trip or clear your whole history at any time. If you are not logged in, nothing is saved.
• Your location (GPS): only when you tap 📍, “Use my location”, “Near me” or “Start drive”. Your live position is used on your own phone to show the blue dot, the km left and the next toll, pump or CNG station. It is not sent to or stored on our server. You can turn it off any time with Stop or in your browser settings.
• E-mails: when you sign up we send you a welcome e-mail and our team receives a short note (your name, e-mail and mobile). Trip e-mails are sent only when you press “Email me this trip”.
• Technical data: IP address and browser type in server logs, for security and to stop misuse.

2. Why we use it

• To run your account, let you log in and reset your password.
• To show and verify places added by users.
• To keep the service secure and prevent spam and abuse.
• To count ad views and clicks (totals only, not linked to you).

3. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with others except when required by law. When you tap “Navigate”, Google Maps opens with the route points; Google's own privacy policy then applies. Map images are loaded from OpenFreeMap and EOX servers, which can see your IP address.

4. Storage and security

Your data is stored on our servers in India. We use encrypted connections (https), hashed passwords and limited admin access.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to see, correct or delete your personal data, or to close your account, by writing to info@mysafarsarthi.com. Places you added may stay on the map without your name.

6. Cookies and local storage

We store your login in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children

SafarSarthi accounts are meant for users aged 18 and above.
